I have devoted my time to severals languages. Generally speaking, my passive skills are much more stronger than active. That's why I'm here- to develop my writing skills.

I've gathered some experiences about learning languages which maybe useful. First of all- confidence. So-called ordinary people (I dislike the term) are enought smart to learn a few languages- but most of them lack self-confidence, cause school has taught them they are language null. No, they aren't.

My next tip- if you aim to get some passive knowledge of a language, teach yourself some grammar and go to texts quickly. For example, if you speak English, get French course like Pimsleur and Michel Thomas and start reading French Wikipedia after you do some a basic level. I believe you will be satisfied with the benefits of this system.
